Clusters of thunderstorms developed along a cool front that moved across Minnesota on Sunday, August 24. A few of these storms produced some severe weather including golf ball sized hail east of Brainerd and hail the size of hen's eggs south of Hillman in Morrison County.

A tornado touched down in rural Benton County and damaged trees and broke windows in buildings and cars. A roof was blown off a barn. This was the first tornado to be reported in Benton County since June 16, 1992 and was the second longest stretch for a county to not have a tornado spotted in its borders. The longest stretch is Carlton County, that has not seen a tornado since June 21, 1986.

Below are storm reports and public information statements from the National Weather Service.
