Heavy Rain Over Southwest MN and Dakota County

The oppressive muggy air mass over Minnesota on August 16th, 2015 spawned thunderstorms with very heavy rains over two areas in southern Minnesota. One area was centered around Dundee in the northeast corner of Nobles County where the highest total found was 5.70 inches of rain six miles north of town. A second area of heavy rain was centered in the Bursville area of Dakota County. The highest total reported there so far was 5.29 inches in Burnsville.

The map to the right depicts the rainfall for the 24 hour period ending at around 8am August 17.
