Latest First Minimum Temperature in the 20s for the Twin Cities

On November 20, 2015 the mercury finally dipped below 30 degrees for the first time this season in the Twin Cities.

This is the latest in the season that the temperature has dipped in the 20s in the Twin Cities. The low on November 20 was 25 degrees. Looking back at the records that begin in 1873, the previous record for a minimum in the 20s was November 19, 1922.

November 20, 2015 also marks the first time the Twin Cities has reached the "hard freeze" threshold of 28 degrees. This is a three-way tie for the latest first hard freeze on record in the Twin Cities. 2015 tied with 1922 and 2001. The latest first hard freeze on record is November 21, 1931.

Lest one might think that this is cool for this time of year, the 1981-2010 Normal minimum for November 20 for the Twin Cities is 24 degrees.
