Scattered severe thunderstorms developed in central and southern Minnesota as a summer-like pattern settled in across the state. Hail was the main threat from these storms. The largest hail reported was 1.75 (golf ball-sized) in Morrison County. The same county also had some tree damage due to wind. The high clouds from one of the thunderstorm cells just west of the Twin Cities filtered the evening sunshine across the metro. There was enough hail to cover the ground like snow in Arlington in Sibley County.
