What are MBS field crews doing?

  • Evaluation of existing inventory data for native plant communities and rare species in the targeted landscape (usually a county or an ECS subsection)
  • Selection and delineation of potential survey sites
  • Consultation with resource managers and others knowledgeable about survey sites, and acquisition of permits and permission to conduct ground surveys
  • Field assessment of the quality and condition of native habitats within selected sites
  • Field surveys for targeted rare species and other species of conservation concern
  • Entry of data into the Department of Natural Resources' Natural Heritage Information System
  • Preparation of publications and summaries of results
  • Delivery of information and technical assistance
