The Minnesota Biological Survey (MBS) conducts field surveys for amphibians and reptiles from April through October. Techniques vary depending on the target species, habitat, and time of year. Captured herpetofauna are weighed, measured, sexed, aged, and photographed prior to release. A variety of survey techniques are used.
