Forest reclassification and road/trail designation status

To comment or ask questions on reclassification proposals or draft plans, please call the contact person listed or send an e-mail to the address provided during the comment period specified for each state forest.

The DNR invites your comments, particularly those regarding planned road/trail designations or closures, environmental or safety issues, potential user conflicts, or other site-specific concerns. Please be as specific as possible with your comments.

A note about Map size

Many maps depict the proposed designation of selected routes in State Forests as forest roads or trails. The maps are Portable Document Format (PDF) files that require the free Adobe Reader software to open and view. "Detailed Map" often show the entire State Forest area and can be large files and may take some time to open if you have a slow internet connection.

"Index Maps" are smaller files with links to detailed township level maps. The township maps show the same information as the detailed map but cover smaller areas and are smaller (100 KB) files that will open faster. "Map Keys" contains a legends for the township maps and define terms used on the maps.

If you experience difficulty in viewing the maps or if the files take too long to download you can request that a compact disc containing the map files be mailed to you, or you can view printed copies of the maps at DNR offices. For further information or assistance contact the person listed in the far right column of the table below for each forest.

Forest located partially within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The sections in the BWCAW are always closed to OHV use.
