• This state forest is named after General Christopher Columbus Andrews, a Civil War general and Minnesota's first chief fire warden.

• Jack and red pine cover most of this forest, alongside stands of birch, aspen, and oak.

• Gently rolling trails provide an easy ride on fairly level, sandy soil for OHM and ATV riders.

• Recreational facilities include the Willow River Campground which includes 36 drive-in campsites, one accessible site, a group camp and a paved boat ramp, and McCormick and Dago day-use areas.

Andrews State Forest Nursery annually produces 5 million tree seedlings, including Norway pine, jack pine, white pine, white spruce, black spruce, black walnut, green ash, red oak, silver maple, and wild plum. These seedlings are used to establish or reforest wood lots, windbreaks, and shelterbelts, or for erosion control, soil and water conservation, or permanent food and cover for wildlife.
