•Welsh Lake State Forest has two great recreational facilities within its boards, a state trail, Heartland State Trail and Leech Lake.
• The Heartland State Trail runs through on the west side of the state forest and is known for being the first rail-to-trail projects in the country.
• Leech Lake is known for its world-calls walleye, muskie, largemouth bass, black crappie, and bluegills fishing.
• The toughest part of this state forest is choosing what you want to do.
• There are no campgrounds within the forest. However, camping is available at Paul Buyan and Bowstring state forests.
