The Whitewater River is 17 miles long, meandering from the city of Elba to its confluence with the Mississippi River, through the bottomlands of the Whitewater Wildlife Management Area. There are no campsites or rest areas, and users should be sensitive to the ecological integrity of the river.
The upper part is a designated trout steam. The lower stretch of the river between the towns of Beaver and Weaver is not suitable for novice paddlers because of the many trees and occasional log jams.
