CO Ben Huener (Roseau) monitored turkey hunting activity, did follow up on a case from the deer season, and looked into an illegal ATV on a Wildlife Management Area as well as ATVs disturbing a wetland on the WMA.

CO Tony Hams (Warroad North) spent the week checking area anglers, turkey hunters, and monitoring ATV traffic. Violations encountered were illegal use of incinerator and burning prohibited materials.

CO Coby Fontes (Warroad South) spent the week patrolling area lands and waters for sturgeon anglers and turkey hunters. Fontes took numerous reports of incidentally trapped otters that found themselves trapped during the beaver season. Additionally, Fontes taught a firearms safety class at the Warroad High School.

CO Jeremy Woinarowicz (Thief River Falls West) continued to monitor area turkey hunting seeing many birds but few hunters. He also checked area anglers and prepared equipment for the upcoming walleye opener. Enforcement action taken for angle without valid license.

CO Sarah Jahn (Thief River Falls East) spent time attending training at Camp Ripley. A grass fire was worked that had hopped a wind break and burned onto a WMA. Time was also spent working turkey hunting, angling, and trapping enforcement.

CO Nick Bruesewitz (Karlstad) participated in training at Camp Ripley and worked ATV and angling enforcement.

CO Demosthenes Regas (Blackduck South) reports working angling, monitoring fish spawning run activity, AIS enforcement and trapping activity throughout this past week. Time was spent handling various wildlife calls and issuing possession permits.

CO Brice Vollbrecht (Blackduck North) worked a detail on the Rainy River for the opening day of the Sturgeon keep season. The river was busy with anglers from all around the state. Angling success varied from boat to boat. Officer assisted with the annual Kelliher/Blackduck Firearm Safety range day and responded to a wildland fire. Trout anglers were checked in a local trout stream.
