CO Derek Schneider (Zumbrota) worked on wildlife and burning related calls and took a complaint regarding illegal activity on a trout stream. Angling and boating activity has been picking up.

CO Joel Heyn (Plainview) worked mainly turkey hunters and anglers during the week. A number of hunters were out and contacted, but success appeared down from A season. More folks have been seen out foraging as well.

CO Annette Kyllo (Rochester #1) reports turkey hunters contacted this week have been experiencing limited success. Hunters expressed some frustration with toms and jakes showing limited interest in decoys and calling. Time was also spent talking with the Kasson Mantorville fishing team about boating laws and checking anglers.

CO Ryan Christenson (Rochester #2) patrolled the area checking anglers and turkey hunters. Success was mixed with turkey hunters, but many birds were seen. Several violations encountered throughout the week included an overlimit of fish and fishing in a closed area.

CO Tyler Ramaker (La Crescent) checked anglers along the Mississippi in Winona and Houston Counties. Several nice northern pike were checked in live wells. An angler was found to be fishing without a license. He had been at the bait shop earlier in the morning buying sucker minnows but decided to take a chance and not buy his fishing license. The angler told Ramaker he almost never fishes without a license.

Winona vacant.
