Lake Bemidji State Park
This park is the perfect playground any time of year, offering visitors swimming, boating, fishing, birdwatching, hiking, camping, biking, picnicking, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and year-round naturalist-led activities.
Hikers can explore the beauty of a tamarack bog carpeted with showy lady's slippers, pitcher plants, dragon's mouth, grass pink, and insect-eating sundews. Most flowers are blooming in the bog during late spring and early summer.

New Group Camp Coming Summer 2014
Looking for a new camping option for your group? The new Lavinia Group Camp will have something for everyone. A large area is available for tent campers, plus there will be five sites with electric hook-up for RVs and trailers. There will be a 22x30 foot covered picnic shelter and a large fire ring for gatherings. Water will also be available on site. Location will be private and secluded, perfect for your next family or group gathering. Construction will start spring 2014 and should be ready for reservations sometime mid- to late summer. Call the park for further updates, and check out the design plans for the new campground.
Fish Hawk Trail Temporarily Closed
The Fish Hawk Trail is temporarily closed for resource management actions which include logging. Bark beetle killed jack pine will be removed along with stunted hardwoods to prepare the site for jack pine re-forestation. As similar woodlands have been converted to agriculture or planted to other species such as red pine, interest in maintaining jack pine woodlands has increased. Several birds and animals rely on jack pine woodland, which is a critically imperiled system in Minnesota. The site will be replanted following the harvest. At this time we expect the closure to last roughly two weeks and will keep this site updated.
