The Sand Dunes State Forest is a very special place. In addition to providing recreational opportunities and timber for Minnesotans, this diverse landscape is home to rare wildlife and unique ecosystems. The DNR is increasing its efforts to inform and involve the public in conversations about managing the Sand Dunes State Forest.
The DNR has formed a "Stakeholder Advisory Group" to provide feedback and advice on managing the Sand Dunes State Forest. Members of the group include local landowners and others interested in forestry, ecology, recreation, wildlife, and land management.
Public meetings were held with the Stakeholder Advisory Group June through December 2016.
The draft of the revised operational plan for the Sand Dunes State Forest was made available for public review on Wednesday, June 21. Public comments are accepted through Friday, August 4. Submit comments by completing the online public review comment form. Contact Little Falls Forestry Area Supervisor John Korzeniowski, 320-616-2450 x233, with any questions about the draft plan or public review process.
