Minnesota Public Stumpage Price Review and Price Index

The Public Stumpage Price report has been published annually since 1974 and covers approximately 80 percent of all commercial timber sales issued by public agencies in Minnesota. It is the only continuously available, internally consistent data series of its type in the state. It assumed its present form in 1984 with the addition of the so-called "woods run" (all volumes converted to cords of pulp and bolts) to allow for price comparisons across agencies.

The Public Stumpage Price Index was added to the report beginning in 1992 to provide a uniform measure of stumpage price escalation in Minnesota over time, and a means of comparing Minnesota stumpage price changes to general price changes (inflation) at the national level using the Implicit Price Deflator for Gross Domestic Product.

Data for each year's report are collected during January and February following each year and the reports are published in late March or early April. The following years are available online as PDF documents. Click on the link below to view the information for the year selected.
