Maple Creek Habitat Enhancement Project

Project summary

Trout Unlimited proposes the Maple Creek Habitat Enhancement Project. The proposed project includes habitat enhancement of approximately 3,500 feet of stream along Maple Creek, located within the Choice Wildlife Management Area, in Fillmore County. The purpose of the project is to restore ecological and hydrologic functions of the creek and adjacent floodplain with the project area. An environmental assessment worksheet (EAW) is required for the project.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), as the Responsible Governmental Unit (RGU) for environmental review of the project, is accepting comments on the EAW.

Public comment period

Public notice of the availability of the EAW for public comment is in the January 30, 2024, edition of the EQB Monitor. A 30-day public review and comment period will be open from January 30, 2024, until 4:30 p.m. February 29, 2024.

A hard copy of the EAW is available for public review at the Spring Grove Public Library, 172 West Main Street, Spring Grove, MN 55974. A hard copy may also be requested by calling 651-259-5122.

Comments must be submitted no later than 4:30 p.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024.
