The DNR employs about 3,200 people, including about 800 during peak activity seasons. Employees work 4.5 million hours, report to over 200 work locations and engage in work fighting fires, growing trees and fish, law enforcement, managing outdoor recreation facilities, regulating business activities and office work. Employees operate 5,000 pieces of equipment, drive 17 million miles a year, manage 4 million acres of land, thousands of miles of trails and maintain approximately 2,700 buildings.
