Blizzard: January 16, 2014

Strong winds combined with light snowfall brought the need for blizzard warnings in central and western Minnesota counties on January 16. A number of locales reported whiteout conditions with zero visibility for driving. Many Minnesota highways were closed for a time due to very low visibility and development of large snow drifts. The National Weather Service reported wind gusts in excess of 50 miles per hour at some locations.
