Minnesota DNR finalizes Rainy Lake fisheries management plan
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has finalized its update to the Rainy Lake Fisheries Management Plan. The plan is available on the Minnesota DNR Rainy Lake webpage and will be used to guide fishery management for the Minnesota waters of Rainy Lake through 2036.
The plan uses information from recently completed fish surveys focused on population and condition, along with extensive stakeholder input from organizational partners and members of the Rainy Lake Fisheries Input Group. Updates to the plan include revised management goals, objectives, and strategies centered on maintaining high-quality fisheries, and protecting and enhancing valuable fish habitat in Rainy Lake.

Winner chosen for waterfowl stamp contest
Minneapolis artist Melissa Mickelson won the Minnesota waterfowl stamp contest with an acrylic painting of a canvasback duck. John Barnard of Virginia earned second place with a canvasback painting done in oil. Third place went to Heidi Haugeen of Farmington with an acrylic painting of a canvasback. The winners were selected out of 15 eligible submissions. The waterfowl stamp can be purchased in combination with a hunting license or as a collectable.
