Dates have been set for recreational netting for whitefish and tullibee (cisco) on seven lakes in the Tower fisheries work area.


Zebra mussels confirmed in Swan Lake in Otter Tail County

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has confirmed individual zebra mussels in Swan Lake in Otter Tail County. Mineral Lake and several small, unnamed lakes connected to and downstream of Swan Lake will also be listed for zebra mussels. All of these lakes flow into North Ten Mile Lake, which was listed for zebra mussels in 2017.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is offering a two-day snowshoe-lacing workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 23-Nov. 24 at the Lake Carlos State Park Visitor Center in Douglas County. During the workshop, an instructor will demonstrate how laces are strung on pre-built Ojibwe-style wood snowshoe frames, followed by a lesson on how to use the finished product.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has published the Meeker County Groundwater Atlas. This Part B atlas covers groundwater conditions and sensitivity to pollution. It expands on Part A, the geologic atlas previously published by the Minnesota Geological Survey. 


New paintings chosen for pheasant and turkey stamps

Mark Kness of Albert Lea won the Minnesota Pheasant Habitat Stamp contest and Stephen Hamrick of Lakeville won the Turkey Habitat Stamp contest. Both of the annual contests took place Sept. 19 and are sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.


DNR fall land sale includes parcels in St. Louis, Carlton and Pine counties

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will offer a total of 17 parcels of land at three public oral bid auctions in October. The auctions will be held in Virginia, Wadena and St. Paul. Included in the auctions are three unimproved recreational land parcels in St. Louis County, one in Carlton County, and one in Pine County.
