Launch from Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park (RM 866), in Coon Rapids, MN, and paddle 8.3 miles to North Mississippi Park (RM 857.7) below the large blue Camden Bridge, in Minneapolis, MN. This route will take the average paddler 2.5-4 hours to complete.

Route description

Below the Coon Rapids Dam, the Mississippi River corridor offers paddlers a chance to experience nature inside the city. This 8.3 mile stretch is marked with scenic islands that paddlers will have a chance to explore or just admire in passing. Wildlife sighting are common and chances to see great-blue herons, bald eagles, and an occasional white-tail deer. The river is wide and the current is swift in this stretch, take extra care when paddling.
