
The trail is a 3.9-mile, paved trail, that runs from the town of Chester, near the city of Rochester, east to U.S. Highway 14 near Eyota. It connects several acres of public lands and trails, a great number of these exist within Chester Woods County Park (Olmsted County).
The 1,333-acre county park has a selection of recreational opportunities, including several miles of hiking trails, camping, picnicking and several types of water recreation, including swimming, fishing and paddling. There is no fee to enter the park, however facility and camping fees apply. Visit the park’s webpage for more details.
Landscape
- The landscape along the trail includes prairie, forest and farmland. A wide variety of wildlife and fauna exist in the area, including white-tailed deer, turkey and bald eagle along with native plant communities and rare plant species, as well as maple, basswood and several types of oak trees.
