Banning State Park

Trail conditions:

On our wooded trails we have a range of 10-12 inches of snow and a few more in the open areas. It is very icy in spots use caution.Ski trails are NOT groomed but some dedicated visitors have made tracks on some of the popular loops. Snowshoeing/Hiking is allowed anywhere in the park. We ask that if there is a ski track on a trail to walk off to the side of those.

The trails offer beautiful birch, aspen and pine forests along the wild and scenic Kettle River as well as the historic Sandstone quarry. There are 13 miles of ungroomed ski trail.
You can snowshoe anywhere in Minnesota's state parks and recreation areas, except on trails that are specifically groomed for another activity, such as skiing or snowmobiling.

The park is located four miles north of Sandstone. The entrances is off I-35 and Minnesota highway 23. Follow the signs to the park. From the park office, follow signs to winter parking lots in the park picnic area.

Parking is available at the picnic area.
