Snow Depth and Groomed Trail Conditions

Mille Lacs Kathio State Park

Trail conditions:

Winter finally arrived this week with a storm total of approx. 16inches here at Kathio. We are still working to open roads in the park. We will not be grooming trails due to unfrozen conditions under the trails that would impact our ability to use our groomers safely. Snowmobile trails are available the conditions are unknown at this time.

The trail(s):
All trails are wooded and wind through ten thousand acres of state park land. You'll find easy ski trails in river and lowland areas, moderate trails in the rolling upland forests, and challenging trails in the wooded glacial terminal moraines. Seven miles of snowshoe trails take you to areas not available at any other time of year. Snowmobile trails go through different types of terrain and also connect to the greater Minnesota grant-in-aid trail system. The park is home to deer, fisher, coyote and raptors, and porcupines are often seen in the treetops.
You can snowshoe anywhere in Minnesota's state parks and recreation areas, except on trails that are specifically groomed for another activity, such as skiing or snowmobiling.
