Trail Snow Report

McCarthy Beach State Park

Trail conditions:

We have only gotten a small amount of very light snow since last week, no major changes. The Big Hole trail is clear and there is about 1.5 inches of snow, making the trail fair for cross country skiing. The trail is not groomed as yet. The Taconite Trail through the park is not groomed yet, conditions are still poor as there is not enough snow. The ice fishing has begun however if you are looking to start your winter fun!

You can snowshoe anywhere in Minnesota's state parks and recreation areas, except on trails that are specifically groomed for another activity, such as skiing or snowmobiling.

Facilities:

  • Winter camping is no longer available at McCarthy Beach. The campground will reopen on or after April 1st, depending on when the snow melts from the campground roads.
