2021 internship program status update: The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be filling internship vacancies at a reduced rate for the summer of 2021. Internships that are made available will adhere to DNR COVID-19 safety guidelines. Individual internship opportunities will be posted intermittently from now through June 2021 on the Minnesota Careers website. If you do not see a position that is of interest to you at this time, you can save your job search and receive an email alert when new positions are posted that match your search criteria.

The DNR, one of Minnesota’s largest state agencies, offers a broad range of paid internships for college students. Internships are available at locations across the state. As an intern you’ll work with dedicated professionals to create a healthy, sustainable, livable Minnesota for generations to come.

How to find and apply for internships at the DNR:

  1. Log onto the Minnesota Careers website
  2. Enter “intern” in the Keywords field on the Job Search Page
  3. Select "Natural Resources Dept" in the “Agency” column on the left side of the page
  4. Choose the internship(s) you’re interested in
  5. Click the apply button to submit your application materials
    TIP: Prior to submitting your application – be sure that you have attached all of the required documents identified in the “How to Apply” section of the job posting.  Applications with missing materials will not be considered.

Internships offer:

  • Competitive salary of $15.00 per hour
  • 20 – 40 hours  per week
  • Opportunities located throughout the state of Minnesota

Internship requirements:

  • Must be receiving academic credit for the experience from your school
  • Must pass a background check as a condition of the appointment
