Snow Depth and Groomed Trail Conditions

Blue Mounds State Park

Trail conditions:

Blue Mounds received it's first measurable snow in quite some time on 1/14/22 with 4 to 5 inches, but winds have moved it around quite a bit. Hikers will find 2-3 inches of snow cover in most places but can expect varying depths ranging from bare ground to foot-deep drifts.

The snowmobile trail is primarily north of Mound Creek in the park and connects road right of way trails on the east and west sides of the park. A short non outletted section allows users to come in at the main park entrance and travel to a warming shelter.
You can snowshoe anywhere in Minnesota's state parks and recreation areas, except on trails that are specifically groomed for another activity, such as skiing or snowmobiling.

Facilities:

  • A warming shelter is available with a wood burning stove.
  • Ski passes are not required.
  • The campgrounds are closed for the season.
