Scenic State Park

Trail conditions:

Snow continues to accumulate at Scenic. The most recent snows have been cold and powdery. Trails have been groomed since the latest accumulation and should be in good shape for a while. Grooming of ski and snowmobile trails continues under partnership with local clubs. For skiing, MN Ski Pass and MN State Parks vehicle permit are required and can be purchased via self registration at the park office kiosk. Please see the Scenic State Park page visitor alert for information regarding the upcoming candlelight ski/snowshoe event on Saturday, February 16th.Lakes at Scenic are frozen over and ice anglers are trying their luck. Ice thickness always varies on Coon-Sandwick Lakes. Please use caution if skiing or fishing on ice. All trails at Scenic are open to snowshoeing and hiking, but please avoid walking on groomed tracks of ski trails.

The trail travels through pristine virgin pine shoreland, offering beautiful views of the lake and the wildlife through the park.
You can snowshoe anywhere in Minnesota's state parks and recreation areas, except on trails that are specifically groomed for another activity, such as skiing or snowmobiling.


  • A unheated shelter is located at the picnic area. Shelter has fireplace and supplied with firewood.

The park entrance is seven miles east of Bigfork on county road 7. Follow main road to the picnic area or boat landing.

Parking is available at the picnic grounds or the boat landing.
