Snow Depth and Groomed Trail Conditions

Scenic State Park

Trail conditions:

Rapidly-warming temperatures have degraded the winter snowpack to the point that trails are largely untraversable. The remaining foot or so of snow is now of a wet, slushy consistency ill-suited to walking with or without snowshoes. Many thanks to our EOWSki! volunteers for their work keeping the ski trails groomed, this winter.Due to construction ongoing throughout the winter, the snowmobile loop coming south through the park from the main corridor is closed this season.

The trail(s):
The trail travels through pristine virgin pine shoreland, offering beautiful views of the lake and the wildlife through the park.
You can snowshoe anywhere in Minnesota's state parks and recreation areas, except on trails that are specifically groomed for another activity, such as skiing or snowmobiling.

  • A unheated shelter is located at the picnic area. Shelter has fireplace and supplied with firewood.
