Taconite State Trail - Grand Rapids
Trail conditions:
Taconite Trail Grand Rapids to Hwy 65: This section was groomed 2-23-21. The trail is in very poor condition after the past week of 40 degree temperatures. There are many sections of dirt and few sections with a half inch base.Taconite Trail Hwy 65 to McCarthy Beach State Park: Groomed 2-23-21. Conditions are poor with many sections of dirt showing through. Taconite Trail McCarthy Beach State Park to Hwy 73: Groomed 2-18-21. Conditions are fair on this section with an estimated 2 inch base. It was not groomed 2-23-28 in attempt to save what base exists.

The trail(s):
The trail consists of rolling hills with numerous lakes and streams. Many of the hills have large areas of exposed rock and enormous boulders. The trail is heavily timbered with a mix of hardwoods and conifers.

- Shelters can be found along the trail.

Heading into Grand Rapids on Highway 169, turn onto 3rd Ave. E. Follow for ten blocks to the trailhead.
