Putnam/Fishing Lakes - Bear Island State Forest
The entire trail was groomed yesterday and is in fair condition. Most of the trail is still covered with snow, but continue to watch for rock and bare ground. Please use caution when riding, travel at appropriate speeds, and stay to the right at all times. Trails have been hard and very fast right over the last week, and they are going to soften up with the warm weather over the weekend.No Motorized Vehicles other than snowmobiles are allowed on State Trails or Grant-in-Aid snowmobile trails.

The Putnam and Fishing Lakes Trails traverse forested, rolling topography through birch, ash, and pine stands. Several small lakes dot the landscape along these scenic trails.

The trail may be accessed from the Taconite State Trail as well as the Iron Ore and Taconite Spur Grant-In-Aid trails.
Parking is available at the Taconite State Trail trailhead in Tower.
